DESIGN

Mt. Washington is a beautiful, rugged corner of Los Angeles, with steep slopes of Oak and Walnut forest plunging into Arroyo Seco, twisting narrow streets, eclectic architecture evincing multiple layers of city development, and the occasional dirt road. Building on a partially developed hillside, surrounded by a diverse range of architectural styles and patches of native woodland, I had a unique opportunity to reimagine what ‘living lightly on the land’ could mean in an urban setting.
